Stage Stevon Lucero Metarealism Mad John Poem

Then a man walked up,
"Who are you and what do you want?"
John looked at him and said
"The truth is what I sought
The truth is what I found.
To truth I am bound,
To come to this place and say to you
That the day had come to
make all things new.
For I am but a voice in the wilderness
Crying out in all this darkness
Brace yourself from this evil mess
By accepting God's sweet caress.
Know his love
And save the world.
Make your path straight
Or share the fate
Of those whose minds are small
And heading for the fall.
For only the loving
Will be left standing
When the Lord comes to take his own
To a placewhere none be alone.
Where the soul is freed from flesh and bone.
To a place we all know as home.
So know his love And save the world."

MAD JOHN
One day a man walked into town
His eyes were grey and his hair was brown
They called him Mad John
The madman from beyond.

He wore long hair and a shaggy beard
And his eyes glowed something weird,
Dressed in animal skins from head to knee.
He walked into town and sat by a tree.
A little girl said "Look mommy, a hippie!"
Her mother said "Hush, let him be."
Soon the police came by,
Stopped, gave him the eye.
But he just sat there, quiet as a stone.
So, they drove away and left him alone.

He sat through the day and
through the night.
Came morning he sat there in full sight.

Silently he sat through the next day
Children ran around him while at play
When he smiled and turned with
something to say
They all jumped up and ran away.

When he finished he shut his mouth
And the man was so astonished,
he fled south.
Pretty soon the police came back
To check on our friend Jack.
Only to find him in a crowd.
Which alarmed them for it was quite loud.
As they approached the crowd to investigate
They saw that the people
had begun to interrogate
With questions about love and hate
Which were quickly answered
by this man of fate.

Mad John's answers came hard and fast,
And filled with truth to make them last.
Intrigued with his logic, his answers sound,
They didn't break up the event but watched
the next round.
Bombarded with questions his answers filled then with awe.
It stunned them to see someone so knowing of God's law.
Soon they all sat And continued to chat.
They talked about this and
talked about that,
Coming to the conclusion that
God's where it's at.
Soon it was the end of the day,
John had nothing more to say,
And people went away.
Back to their homes to pray,
For that hairy little man
Who knew so much of God's plan.
To pray for that voice in the wilderness
That calls us form this darkness
To stand in the light,
To receive our wings for flight,
For to know God's love Is to save the world.
